My great great grandfather Patrick Keenan was born in Clonallon, County Down in 1833. I know that he came to Scotland where he married Agnes Haughey in 1856. The couple had ten children. While I’ve found a lot of information from various records I don’t think any of them could give me more of an insight into the man than this newspaper report from 1890.

What a shock it must have been for Patrick when Inspector Anderson knocked on the door. And imagine his horror when those 53 bottles of porter and 43 bottles of beer were removed from the house. I wonder what happened to all that confiscated booze!
