Mary Mollahan 1924-1929

I spotted this newspaper story from June 1929 reporting the death of Mary Mollahan. Mary’s paternal grandmother, Ann Keenan was my great grandmother’s sister. This is the only report I have found about this incident but I have added the record of her death. It doesn’t say exactly what happened. Was she playing with friends in the street and ran out into the road? Was the “Edinburgh merchant” in any way at fault? How did she get to hospital and who was with her? Whatever the circumstances it must have been devastating for her family. The article notes that her father was a grave digger which almost makes it sadder knowing that he would have to work every day in the cemetery where his daughter was laid to rest.
